How Film & TV Drive Tourism

Film and television shape the way audiences see the world. A single series or feature can put a remote region on the map, drive visitor demand for years, and transform local economies. From Top End Wedding to Kangaroo, True Spirit, Home & Away, and NCIS: Sydney, Australian productions have showcased our landscapes to global audiences, just as The White Lotus and The Lord of the Rings have reshaped tourism overseas.

This session brings together leaders from tourism, screen agencies, and location strategy to explore how filmed-in Australia content can build destination identity, attract international visitors, and support long-term economic growth. The panel examines what truly moves the needle. How branding, partnerships and story-rich landscapes, combined with the right production choices, can turn filmed stories into journeys audiences want to take.

Featuring Sandra Chipchase (former CEO of Destination NSW), Jacqui Feeney (Chief Executive Officer of Screen Queensland), and Jennie Hughes (Director, Screen Territory).

More panelists to be announced.
