Jennie Hughes
During her 6-year tenure at Screen Territory, Jennie Hughes has guided the agency through a period of significant growth and change, resulting in Screen Territory winning the 2022 Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Building a Strong Economy and receiving a further Nomination in 2024.
Jennie has led the screen agency through a period of significant change overseeing record levels of production in the Northern Territory. Key recent productions include the Netflix flagship hit series Territory, STUDIOCANAL’S feature film Kangaroo, CBS Paramount+ NCIS: Sydney and Amazon Prime’s Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Top End Bub and Deadloch Season 2.
Prior to joining Screen Territory Jennie held senior positions at various organisations including SBS; CEO New York Film Academy; COO Screen Queensland; Festival Director, Brisbane International Film Festival; Executive Director Open Channel; Head of Programming Ovation Channel and Executive VP Macquarie Filmed Investments where she managed over $100 million of screen production.
Jennie is an experienced financier and her company International Film Group held financing partnerships with the UK’s Ingenious Media and Royal Bank of Scotland. Jennie has participated in screen industry reviews and was appointed by the Australian Government as Chair of the Investment Committee for the Strategic Industry Leaders Group review of Digital Content. She was Chair of the SBS Gender Equality Group and a Board member of the Australian Film Institute/AACTA and the Central Coast Arts Centre.
Jennie was a member of the 2022 Department of Industry Tourism and Trade working group which structured the NT’s International Engagement Strategy 2022-2026 and Co-chaired the Charles Darwin University and Northern Territory Government Partnership Arts Collaboration Committee. Jennie is currently a member of the Northern Territory Department of Tourism and Hospitality Leadership Group.
