Jennie Hughes

Jennie Hughes is an award-winning screen executive recognised nationally for transforming the Northern Territory into one of Australia’s most dynamic screen destinations. Since joining Screen Territory in 2018, she has driven unprecedented growth in production activity and spend, earning the 2022 Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Building a Strong Economy, with finalist recognition again in 2024.


Under her leadership, Screen Territory introduced the Production Attraction Incentive Program, Enterprise Program and major games initiatives, attracting landmark productions including Territory (Netflix), Deadloch (Amazon Prime), Kangaroo (STUDIOCANAL), NCIS: Sydney (Paramount+), and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (Amazon). She spearheaded a pioneering partnership with Tourism NT, using set-jetting campaigns to amplify audience awareness and drive real-world visitation to the Northern Territory.
A screen industry leader Jennie has more than 20 years’ experience supporting Australian storytelling. She has held senior roles with Screen Queensland, SBS and the New York Film Academy Australia, and Macquarie Filmed investments where she managed $100 million of screen production, executive-producing acclaimed Australian films including Gettin’ Square, Dirty Deeds and Crackerjack.


Jennie has shaped screen and creative policy through her contribution to the NT International Engagement Strategy 2022–2026, co-chairing the Charles Darwin University–NT Government Arts Collaboration Committee, and serving on the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Leadership Group. She has held board and advisory roles with the Australian Film Institute/AACTA, The Art House – Wyong and New York Film Academy, was appointed by the Federal Minister for Communications to chair the Strategic Industry Leaders Group on Digital Content, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Board Director of Browns Mart Arts and Theatre.
