Kate Dickson
Kate Dickson started her career in the live theatre and events industry in the early 90's working as Lighting crew at the Adelaide Festival Centre and on the first Womadelaide in 1992.
She then took on a role as Lighting Board Operator at the Townsville Civic Theatre before moving her career to London and working as an Audio-Visual Technician for corporate conferences, product launches and awards ceremonies across the UK as part of a team but also as a solo multi disciplined operator.
On returning to Australia, she worked at Sydney Opera House in the Mechanist and Lighting Departments before moving into Corporate Event Management & Sales with Gearhouse Events and Staging Connections.
For 20 years she worked at Flight Centre Travel Group primarily in Leadership roles with small teams and then in Talent Acquisition. During this time she attended dozens of Leadership Development courses whilst leading, motivating and managing retail staff. These are all transferable skills that are being used now as Talent Development Manager at NEP.
Joining NEP Australia in 2022, Kate has combined her live events, sales, leadership & Talent Management experience to deliver a structured and seamless recruitment, onboarding and learning experience for NEP staff across Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Since October 2023 Kate has taken on the position of Talent Development Manager, remastering the student attraction, work experience, internship and freelance crew management for NEP Australia. She has spoken on several industry engagement panels including the AACTA's and SMPTE in 2024 & presenting at BUFTA's encouraging young people to consider entering the Sports Broadcast industry.
Kate was Chairperson for the Flight Centre Foundation, NSW from 2012 to 2016 and among many achievements establishing a long term relationship with FOX Studios for their annual Red Kite bag pack.
Kate has volunteered at;
'Sculptures By the Sea' since 2016,
'Barnardos Swimming School for Indigenous Children' since 2024,
'Sydney Festival' since 2024,
and recently joined 'Dress For Success' to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Combining all these transferable skills and first hand knowledge working as a technician in live theatre, concerts and conference Kate will be able to manage a diverse recruitment process, onboard the trainees, set guidelines, expectations and support through this program.
