Monica Davidson
Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries, who began her professional life as a freelance journalist, performer, and filmmaker. After years of freelancing and running her production company Twoshotmedia, Monica started sharing her entrepreneurial knowledge with others. In 2013 Monica consolidated her experience with a Master’s degree in Screen Arts and Business from AFTRS, and shortly after she was appointed as Australia’s first Creative Industries Business Advisor by the NSW Small Business Commissioner.
In 2016 Monica founded the social enterprise Creative Plus Business, a national social enterprise dedicated to continuing and expanding the education of creative practitioners and arts professionals about small business skills, financial literacy, marketing strategy and wellbeing. She was named as a Westpac/AFR ‘Woman of Influence’ for her work in the creative industries in 2014, and in 2019 Monica won the inaugural QUT Creative Enterprise Australia award for being a Creative Trailblazer, "who creates enterprises and opportunities … within Australia’s creative economy." In 2020 Monica was a recipient of the prestigious AMP Tomorrow Fund. In addition to being the Doyenne of C+B, Monica continues her work as a filmmaker and writer, releasing her feature documentary Handbag on SBS Viceland and On Demand in 2023.
