Matty Mills

Matty Mills is a proud Indigenous Australian, known for his presenting and hosting roles, advocacy work, fitness-based lifestyle and unforgettable persona described as “sparkly”.

He has a lustrous career working within the media industry as a Presenter for television and radio. From his role as an entertainer reporter for NITV to his freelance reporting for Channel Nine’s Getaway – his energy is infectious. He made his main stage debut in Acting at Sydney Theatre Company in 2022 and recently performed as a lead in Blaque Showgirls written by Nakiah Lui at Griffin Theatre Company.


Matty has also taken centre stage as host for the ARIA Awards, The Dreamtime Awards, Pride in Sports Awards, and most recently the Australian Commercial Radio Awards. Matty won for Best New Talent at the ACRAS in 2023. He also took position at the right hand of renowned film maker – Baz Luhrmann, becoming his executive assistant whilst on the set of Elvis.


Matty is a passionate advocate for the queer and Indigenous communities and has used his platform across media, including his former weekly podcast First Things First, to drive important conversations within mainstream culture.


He is an inspiration within the Aboriginal community as the founder of BlakFulla Run Club, which was created to connect and inspire First Nations people through exercise. A proud member of the LGBTQI+ community, Matty has also hosted the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras on numerous occasions.


As an advocate for mental health awareness Matty often talks of his struggles with his own mental health and how society often pressures individuals to conceal parts of their identities. Through the power of health, fitness and giving back to the community Matty has become more aware of what’s important and has embraced these parts of himself and learned to celebrate them. While Matty openly admits that life is far from perfect at times – he continues to fight and advocate for continual growth and positive change.


Further to his Media and Acting work, Matty uses his social media to showcase the personal let of his life as well as a promotional tool with a captive audience to promote his Media work, advocacy and his healthy lifestyle.
