Storytellers, Behind The Scenes

Writer Tony McNamara In Conversation

Two-time Oscar nominee Tony McNamara (The Roses, Poor Things, The Favourite, The Great) is one of Australia’s most celebrated screenwriters.

Known for his distinctive blend of wit, heart, and dark comedy, Tony sits down with us to unpack his work from screenplay to screen, in the Yargo's Lithamos directed, Oscar-winning film Poor Things.

In this exclusive session, hear from Tony firsthand as he dissects his adaptation of Alasdair Gray's 1992 novel. Supported by clips from the film, Tony shares how he crafts character, balances tone and finds humour in drama and tragedy.

Join us for this unique opportunity to hear directly from one of the industry’s most influential screenwriters, as he reveals his approach to crafting compelling stories.
