Unique Australian Creatures in Horror

Kiah Roache-Turner will join us to discuss his film Sting, which dives into the fear of spiders. Christopher Sun from Slaughter FX will join the panel to share his expertise in crafting visceral, boundary-pushing horror that merges practical effects with psychological dread. With a keen eye for transforming the ordinary into the nightmarish, Sun will offer insights into how practical effects and Australian folklore shape the horror genre.

Acclaimed director Richard E. Williams, whose 2025 film Dead Eyes uses the Australian environment to evoke fear in a uniquely atmospheric way, will share his perspective on harnessing the natural landscape to heighten tension and terror.
