Tyler Atkins

Tyler Atkins is a filmmaker who approaches life with a clear sense of spirit and purpose. Raised in Australia’s coastal communities, he has long been connected to surf culture and the rhythm of the ocean. As a dedicated Sikh, he begins each day with Kundalini Yoga and early morning meditation, practices that continue to ground his outlook and support his creative work.

Tyler’s debut feature Bosch and Rockit, which he wrote, directed and produced, was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic and became one of the first Australian productions to complete shooting under global restrictions. Released in 2022, the film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Mammoth Film Festival and was warmly received across the industry.

In 2019, Tyler worked on the Apple TV+ series Shantaram. He began in the Writers Room with Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle) before joining the directing team under Justin Kurzel (Snowtown). Production took place in India and Melbourne and included work with Oscar winning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionaire).

His most recent work includes the MMA action drama Beast In Me, which he directed and co-wrote with David Frigerio and Academy Award winner Russell Crowe. Crowe also stars in the film alongside Daniel MacPherson, Luke Hemsworth and award-winning singer-songwriter Amy Shark.
