Sara Khan
Sara Khan is a screenwriter and proud Wailwan, Gomeroi and Pakistani woman with a strong background in storytelling across a range of industries. She is currently developing her debut original television series with support from Screen Australia. Sara’s television writing credits include her first hour‑long drama episode for Paper Dolls (Paramount+, Season 1, Episode 6), an episode of Heartbreak High (Netflix, Season 2, Episode 5), a half‑hour comedy episode of Gold Diggers (ABC), and a half‑hour drama episode for SBS’s anthology series Erotic Stories (Season 1, Episode 7). Her Erotic Stories episode, Powerful Owl, was selected for a worldwide premiere at SXSW Sydney. In 2025 Sara was announced as a recipient for Talent USA with Screen Australia to attend the Australian International Screen Forum in New York. Alongside her screenwriting work, Sara has worked extensively across radio, museums and education, with a focus on amplifying First Nations and people of colour’s voices. Recently, Sara created the Seeding Storytellers Program with Screenworks. Seeding Storytellers has trained 16 First Nations screenwriters from across the country in the role of notetaking, a proven pathway into writing for television. Sara is a former AFTRS student and is actively involved in the AFTRS On Country Pathways Program where she mentors emerging First Nation story tellers.
