Peter Ellis
Forensic Pathologist | Disaster Victim Identification Specialist
Professor Peter Ellis has spent his distinguished career uncovering the stories the dead can’t tell and has worked on some of Australia’s highest-profile crimes. Adjunct Professor in Forensic Medicine and Pathology at Griffith University, he holds a similar title at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Internationally, Peter has identified victims of natural disasters, accidents and war crimes - the Bali bombing, Thailand tsunami, Christchurch earthquake, plane crashes, and mass graves in Kosovo. He was also involved in excavating and examining the bodies of two hundred and fifty World War I soldiers at a French battlefield in Fromelles. Most were identified and reburied in individual marked graves, each with a named gravestone.
Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to forensic pathology, Peter brings unmatched insight into the science, ethics and humanity behind the world’s darkest stories.
