Leela Varghese
Leela Varghese (she/her) is a queer writer, director, and musical comedian dedicated to telling joyful and impactful stories. She is the co-writer and director of the feature film Lesbian Space Princess (AFF Audience Choice 2024), an adult animation developed through the South Australian Film Corporation’s Film Lab: New Voices initiative, funded by the SAFC, Screen Australia, and the Adelaide Film Festival. Leela’s queer comedy short Crush won multiple awards at Tropfest 2019.
She has an accomplished career in television, working as a presenter and segment producer for Totally Wild and Behind the News. She currently voices Shanti in NITV/Netflix’s Eddie's Lil' Homies. Leela is also a member of the musical comedy band The Coconuts, whose critically acclaimed show Brown on the Outside, White on the Inside was a hugely popular, multi-award-winning hit at both the Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe festivals.
