Kate Woods

Kate Woods is an Australian director whose feature film, Kangaroo, was released in Australia September 2025, followed by an international rollout via StudioCanal Films. It became the highest grossing Australian film of 2025 and was nominated for 8 AACTA Awards.


Her work spans critically acclaimed television across the U.S. and Australia. Woods has directed episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer, Messiah, The Good Lord Bird, Unsolved, Underground, The Umbrella Academy, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Bosch: Legacy, Home Before Dark, Law & Order: SVU, NCIS: LA, House MD, Suits, Nashville, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, Bones, Private Practice and Castle.


Woods began her career directing episodes for iconic Australian dramas including GP, Phoenix, and Janus, which earned multiple AFI nominations. In 2008, she was honored with the Australian Directors’ Guild Michael Carson Award for Excellence in Television Drama Direction.


Her debut feature Looking for Alibrandi celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025. A modern Australian classic, the film won Best Film at both the AFI and IF Awards and earned multiple nominations, including Best Director from the Film Critics Circle of Australia and the Variety Club of Australia.
