Judith Fordham
Criminal Barrister | Author | Forensic Science Expert
Throughout her extraordinary career, Judith has assisted police in the investigation and prosecution of criminal offences, defended bikers, murderers, abusers and the wrongly accused, worn zebra-striped heels in court, and raised four children on her own.
Once a battered wife who struggled to feed her family, she earned degrees in science and law, became one of Western Australia’s best-known criminal barristers, and an Associate Professor in Forensic Science at University of WA, teaching lawyers and police how to understand and communicate science — and scientists about the complexities of the court room.
Working alongside juries and uncovering the hidden psychology of the courtroom. Judith’s groundbreaking research into juror behaviour — including a study commissioned by the W.A. Attorney General — has changed how we understand justice from the inside out.
With decades in the trenches of criminal justice, Judith brings wit, clarity and hard-won insight to the real world of crime and evidence — far stranger, and often more revealing, than fiction.
She is also the author of Life, Law and Not Enough Shoes — a fierce, funny and deeply human look at the world of crime, courage and survival. An in-demand speaker and podcast guest, she has also appeared on Channel Nine’s Under Investigation with Liz Hayes.
