Actor
Jonah Wren Phillips
The son of two Actors, Jonah has a subtlety and depth of talent rarely seen at his age. He
received unanimously strong reviews for his work, and his particularly advanced physical
performance, in a major role in Bring Her Back, Michael and Danny Philippou's much
anticipated horror feature. This performance earned him a nomination for Best Supporting
Actor in a Film for the AACTA Awards.
Being cast in the lead role of Angus for feature film How To Make Gravy, stands testament to
Jonah's emotional capacity, as well as the strength of his screen presence alongside co-stars
such as Daniel Henshall, Hugo Weaving, Kate Mulvany and Damon Herriman, an ensemble
who won the Equity Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Miniseries /
Telemovie.
Jonah commenced his career in a large guest role across two episodes of the high profile New
Zealand television series Sweet Tooth and immediately went on to work on Human Error for
the Nine Network, independent feature The Returned, directed by Ben Pfeiffer and, more
recently, the short film Seadog for award-winning filmmakers Alec Green, Finbar Watson and
Eric Zac Perry.
With a sense of both playfulness and professionalism, we're sure to see more of Jonah in the
future.
