Actor
Joe Bird
Joe Bird is an Australian actor whose work centres on emotionally driven, character-led stories. He first gained international attention for his breakout performance in the Sundance-premiering horror hit Talk to Me (A24), directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, which became one of the most talked-about genre debuts of the decade. Following Talk to Me, Bird has continued to build a reputation for grounded, fearless performances in bold Australian cinema. He stars as the lead in freshly NEON acquired Leviticus, a psychologically charged horror drama examining repression and identity, and also stars as the lead in the short film The Worm, both of which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. He is also set to appear in Wolfram, directed by Warwick Thornton, premiering in Berlinale 2026 competition, further cementing his place among Australia’s most exciting emerging screen actors. Bird is drawn to complex, interior characters and projects that push tonal and emotional boundaries, and he is quickly becoming a distinctive voice in contemporary film.
