Ella Stone‑Richards

Ella Stone‑Richards is an emerging Sydney‑based cinematographer and a 2024 graduate of AFTRS’ Bachelor of Arts Screen (Production). Passionate about visual storytelling, colour and camera craft, Ella’s practice is driven by close observation and a deep interest in the human experience, with a focus on stories that spark conversation and expand the boundaries of contemporary screen practice. Following graduation, Ella worked in the camera department on the Disney Studios feature film Send Help (dir. Sam Raimi, DOP Bill Pope) and through the AFTRS Graduate Program at Endemol Shine Australia. In addition to freelance work, Ella is currently working as a Camera Prep Technician at VA Digital Hire in Disney Studios and has recently completed cinematography on a documentary for Killdeers Magazine. Ella is the recipient of the Sony Women in Cinematography Prize (2025) for The Colour of Black and was selected for the Walt Disney Camera Traineeship (2025). Her work Strawflower was a 2025 AACTA Pitch: Focus winner in partnership with Sony, while The Colour of Black was an official selection at Made in the West Film Festival, where she was also nominated for Best Cinematographer.
