Bharat Nalluri

Bharat Nalluri is a BAFTA and Emmy®-nominated director known for his work on critically acclaimed television and film. Most recently he was the lead director and executive producer of Netflix’s Boy Swallows Universe, based on Trent Dalton’s best-selling novel, Apple TV+’s Shantaram, adapted from Gregory David Roberts’ bestseller and Last days Of The Space Age for Disney Plus. Bharat has directed several feature films including Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (Focus Features/Universal), starring Amy Adams and Frances McDormand. His work on HBO’s mini-series Tsunami: The Aftermath earned him an Emmy® nomination, featuring performances by Tim Roth, Toni Collette, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. 


Bharat directed pilots for several successful BBC series, including Life on Mars (BAFTA and International Emmy® winner), Spooks (BAFTA winner), and Hustle (Directors Guild GB nominated) which was based on his original idea. In the U.S. he has directed numerous pilots including The 100 (Warner Bros) and worked on Apple TV+’s Little America, a BAFTA nominee for Best International Series. With extensive experience in directing pilots and shaping series, Bharat has established himself as a trusted creative force across both film and television. He is currently in post-production on Flavia (Sky/Mazur Kaplan/Protagonist), a feature film starring Molly Belle Wright, Martin Freeman, Toby Jones and Jonathon Pryce.
