Alex Mavroidakis
Alex Mavroidakis is the Creative Director of ITV Studios Australia. With Logie, SPAA, AACTA, BAFTA and Nickelodeon Kids Choice awards all on his mantlepiece, Alex is Australia's leading show-running, creative exec and a powerhouse of Reality TV. Alex started his career at the BBC in London before making the move into the booming world of Australian reality TV, 26 years ago, in 2000. Since then, he has overseen some of the biggest television brands in the world. Quickly making his mark in Australia on shows like Temptation Island, The X-Factor and The Apprentice, Alex was instantly earmarked by networks and production companies as someone who brought an arsenal of ideas, quick thinking and a deep vein of humour to the table. Ultimately, it was in 24-hour turnaround television where Alex quickly elevated through the ranks. Alex made Big Brother: Friday Night Live a ratings winner for Network 10 before overseeing Big Brother for both 10 and latterly Channel 9 as Executive Producer. In all, Alex worked across 11 series of the reality juggernaut. In 2015, Alex was poached by ITV Studios to lead I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here - 12 seasons later it remains one of the biggest shows on network television and in 2022 won the Logie for Most Outstanding Reality Show. Alex also is the show runner and lead creative for Channel Nine's, global giant, Love Island Australia. Across 7 seasons, Love Island is considered Australia's first BVOD "monster hit". In his role of Creative Director, Alex is creatively across the entire ITV slate and works very closely with the Development team to bring new brands and new business through the door. Alex lives on the Gold Coast with his 4 children, he enjoys pies, Coke Zero and watching all codes of football and cricket. His catchphrase is “funny wins”.
