Nick Lacey is a multiple award-winning filmmaker with a flair for genre-bending storytelling and cinematic craftsmanship. His work seamlessly blends psychological depth, suspense, and social commentary with striking visuals. Nick's work has spanned a wide festival track record, screening in competition at major events including the Sydney Film Festival (71st & 69th), BFI Flare, Miami Film Festival, Screamfest, Iris Prize, Belfast Film Festival, and the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, among others. Nick's debut feature film will be in production in 2026, off the back of his latest short, Die Bully Die, which won Best Live Action Short at the 2024 Sydney Film Festival and Best Film at the 2025 Mardi Gras Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best Direction at the 2024 ADG Awards and received an AACTA nomination for Best Short Film (2025). His previous short, Ghosted, earned a Special Jury Mention at the 2022 Sydney Film Festival and won Best Screenplay at the 2023 Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival. Previously, Nick produced and directed across all major Australian television networks, delivering multiple AACTA, New York Television and Film Festival Gold Award, and Rose d’Or nominated series.
