Joshua Long

Writer & Director - Joshua Long Joshua Long is a Brisbane based, Neurodivergent Filmmaker who specialises in 'Genre' filmmaking with a focus on Neurodivergent characters. Joshua's first major short 'AXED' (2010) won the Independent Spirit Award at the 2011 A Night Of Horror Film Festival. Joshua is a Masters graduate at Griffith Film School where he was awarded the Sun Foundation Scholarship for directing. Joshua wrote and directed the Screen Queensland funded short film 'Post Mortem Mary' (2017). It screened at many international film festivals, most notably winning best short film at SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival which is the highest honour in genre cinema. 


Joshua was nominated for an Australian Writer's Guild Award. In 2018 Joshua was selected to participate in the Asian Pacific Screen Lab. Joshua wrote and directed the episode 'My Empire Of Dirt', of the Shudder Original Series 'Deadhouse Dark. This project was funded by Screen Australia and Screen Queensland. Both 'Deadhouse Dark' and 'Post Mortem Mary' are playing to international audiences via the Shudder streaming service. Joshua is currently developing long form projects, which include a feature length version 'Post Mortem Mary'.
