Chris Nyst
Chris Nyst is a leading Australian lawyer, award-winning crime fiction writer, and filmmaker. He is a principal of the prominent Queensland-based law firm, Nyst Legal, an adjunct professor of law at Griffith University, a past President of the Gold Coast Law Association, and co-founder of the Griffith University Innocence Project. In 1999, Chris turned his hand to fiction writing, with a series of "legal thrillers" for HarperCollins. His debut novel, Cop This, was short-listed for the coveted Ned Kelly Crime Fiction Award. His second, Gone, was short-listed for the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards, and his third novel, Crook as Rookwood, was the winner of the 2006 Ned Kelly Award.
In film, Chris wrote and co-produced the highly acclaimed Gettin’ Square, which won him the 2003 Lexus IF Award for Best Screenplay. He wrote and directed the pacey crime comedy, Crooked Business, and his latest film, Spit, is set for release in March 2025.
